Oh hi there! My name is Ashley Paramore. I’m one smol vegan cook in a sea of vegans on the internet. I live in Oakland, California with 3 dragons (aka cockatiels) and one carnivorous husband. I’ve been vegan since roughly 2012, and have been livestreaming my vegan meals weekly on Twitch since 2015.
I’ve never been a writer — I loathe it. It’s the reason why I’ve never finished the book I’ve been “working on” since 2016. Recipes I create are so rarely written down, let alone in a form like this that can be widely distributed to the world. They live in my head, recreated by muscle memory.
So I guess you’re wondering why you’re here. (It’s ok, I am too as I’m writing this.) The answer is twofold. For one, I’m a shitty writer and would like to become a better one. But more importantly, I want to have documentation of my recipes that I can both share with you and work toward incorporating into my book.
Why am I telling you this you ask? Mostly because somebody smarter than me told me that if you want to achieve your goals you need someone to hold you accountable, and better yet write it all down. So this is me, putting it on the line by writing it all down and telling all y’all. Hold me accountable, and tell me what you’re enjoying and would like to see more of.
What can you expect? I’m kicking this blog off with a project that was inspired by my friend Cliff O’Neill, where about every week I’m going create a dish from a different country from around the world with a vegan twist. I’m going to push myself out of my comfort zone and walk you through my thought process in how I veganize those dishes. I’ll also be sprinkling in product recommendations, reviews, food tourism, and some of those recipes I am yet to write down.
Do keep in mind as we move forward here that food blogging, writing, and photography — it’s all new to me so please be kind! In the meantime, I hope you’ll join me in this vegan culinary adventure! For updates in between posts you can follow on Instagram or Twitter. You can also watch my recipes created live weekly on my Twitch channel.
Thanks again for joining me in this culinary journey. Until then, eat something delicious for me!
Good for you!
