Dear Elis!
As usual I received your love letter. Now my dear, we have only met 2 ½ months ago and we already love each other. And you are worried that I will forget you if I go dancing and see a beautiful American woman as you mentioned. You can be rest assured. I was recently with my German colleague on the dance floor — he took us there to see how things were going. We don’t need to go there anymore because it was pretty wild, and the pleasure is too expensive here. But we also have other worries where the money is much better fit as I already wrote you. We’re first buying a car, then a plot of land we want to build a home on over time. Then the women here aren’t for life, every second one is nearly divorced — I wish for a dear house wife and not a bar maid. Oh Elis how am I supposed to teach you to believe in me. I could ask you as well not to forget me if you get to know the boys better. But I trust you and love you so much Elis as never before, believe in me.
Now you ask for Philip’s address here, I enclosed it, but I don’t know if he’s there because he hasn’t answered me yet. I picked up your letter in Wisconsin and also your photo. Now accept the heartfelt greetings and intimate kisses from your beloved Otto.
Always in the quiet hours I think back about you and tell you frankly that you are my only happiness.
Your Otto
